Finished to be more correct. I forgot to post it, but my last manuscript is "complete." It came in right around 80,000 words, so it's not as long as the last and not as short as a lot of novels in circulation. I'm editing it from first draft to first revision. Against all professional advice, I know. But I'm trying to be ready with it for the Backspace Writers Conference in May.
I've got the other novel. Sure. But hey, I just don't like it as much (give me a few weeks and I'll hate this one into oblivion as well). For better or worse, the 1st novel is in a writing contest being hosted by the brilliantly sharkie literary agent Janet Reid. She doesn't represent horror, so I know I'll never be represented by her (not her cup of tea). Still, I enjoy her blog (and a few of her tweets) and figure it's good to get it out there and potentially get some feedback.
So fingers crossed for that contest. Figuratively though. Can't type with crossed fingers. It's my toes that I'll keep crossed until my feet cramp up. Then, regardless of the results, I'll hobble my way over to New York for the conference.
